Juniper

This is a poem I wrote over the past two days. In my last post – Flake – I wrote a poem using a new method. I attempted to write a Haiku, then gave up after writing lines over and over again. Eventually the poem led me to where it wanted to go rather than where I wanted it to go in its initial drafts. I had fun with it! So, I decided to do it again. I hope you enjoy this poem – Juniper.

Juniper

Today the Juniper in the fog
is just a dead branch
covered in fungus
Though it’s green,
and the live
limbs are painted blackish
brown in the background
faded and twisted, like seeing spots
Odd, this trade
Yesterday the song birds came
because the sun made the berries
a purple phosphorescence
Reflected off morning dew
from eight to ten
